I say hell yes. Lightweight and more protection to the face, not to mention the whole 'spartan' look to it. If it works, why not use it.

the "chops" are just an add on, the base helmet is very similar to the ops core fast, except its split into 2 pieces that allow the kevlar to provide better ballistic properties, with the added benefit of having an air vent near the top of the helmet.
It is in use right now, but very very limited.. seems like most SOF units are opting for Ops-Core FAST ballistic lids, or good ol' mich's
i wouldnt be supprised if the airframe is the next gen kevlar, however i think the ops core fast has a bit better chance due to its popularity right now
by the way, that last pic, I believe is not an airframe, it seems to be a MICH with crye precision style 'chops' added on

Or just use baseball caps lol like some spec ops guys have said they realize helmets are useless so what's the point. Great for your typical concrete falling on your head and shit but lets be honest pretty much everyone would rather go for a cap or something. Which is what most special operations guys do. Not saying they don't use the fuck outta helmets so no one jump on me about that, just saying they try not to every time they get the chance.

im pretty sure concrete falling on your dome is still gonna hurt (at least your neck) with or without a helmet, more so without of course, but no, kevlars are for fragmentation and indeed rifle round protection, the new kevlar being developed, the ECH is actually capable of stopping 7.62 AP ammunition

Most helmets aren't intended to stop or block rounds or frag, they are designed to force the object along the curve of the helmet to keep away from the wearers noggin.
Like when hit by something it may penetrate but it will travel along the inner curve of the helmet or the outer if no penetration.

Actually, Aeros and Dozer are both right. Mission did indeed often dictate what headgear was to be worn, however, my platoon was a relay/crg commo insertion team. We often operated outside of garrison manned zones. To that end, we would wear either 1 of 3 sets of headgear. PC, Boonie, and IF we took contact, or WHEN the brass or another platoon was scheduled to meet or relieve us, we would revert back to Kevlar's. It was typical of a team to be seen jumping up and throwing on Kevlar's when they were about to be seen by brass.
